Between 2019 and 2021, FOCUS carried out extensive quantitative and qualitative research to explore acceptance and reality in relation to two-way dynamic integration in Jordan, Croatia, Germany and Sweden.

At the FOCUS Forum in January, our FOCUS researchers discussed the challenges and methodological dilemmas of such an ambitious study:

  • How to make the research design as “dynamic” and “two-way” as the concept of integration?
  • How to account for power asymmetries between receiving and arriving communities?
  • Is it possible to measure discrimination and racism?
